	Resumen: Se pretende el estudio de un linaje familiar de la villa de San Sebastián durante los siglos XIII al XV. Los Mans-Engómez, emigrados desde Bayonne en el siglo XII, se fueron convirtiendo, en etapas sucesivas, en el núcleo de la oligarquía urbana donostiarra. Detentaron el poder político de la villa: sus miembros reiteraron su presencia en los oficios concejiles anuales y disfrutaron de la vinculación permanente del cargo de preboste al linaje. Controlaron el cabildo parroquial y las organizaciones corporativas de la villa. Hegemonizaron las actividades económicas de ésta y su término, así como el comercio marítimo: transporte de mercancías, producción de hierro, inversiones en tierras y propiedades inmobiliarias urbanas. Igualmente, mediante sucesivos entronques familiares, absorvieron al resto de los linajes emergentes en la villa. Finalmente, se plantea la hipótesis de que el excesivo crecimiento del linaje, y la transgresión del ámbito concejil, pudo ser la causa de la división y ulterior hundimiento del mismo, ocurrido ya a finales del siglo XV.
	Abstract: The Mans-Engámez family: the leading lineage of San Sebastián during the Middle Age: We pretend to study a lineage from San Sebastián Town from l3th to 15th centuries. The Mans-Engómez, who emigrate from Bayonne in l2th century, became the most important family from San Sebastián, after some successive stages.They:held the politie power of the town: the members of the lineage reiterated their presence in t-he annual council offices and enjoyed from. the pern1anent vinculation of the post of provost to the lineage.They controled the parochial chapter and the corporative organizations of the tOwn. They took hegemony over the economic activities of the town and its township, and besides over the maritime commerce. In the same WaY, they took up the rest of the lineages that appeared in the town by successive familiar links.FinallY, we expIain that the excessive rise of the lineage, and the transgressi0n Of the council boundaries could be the reason of the partition and the fall of the lineage.
